Trim

Here are some trim samples that I like –

The cove molding that we are considering is more simple, with no waves on the edges.  Mainly, I like the simple squared look of the window casing.

We would like the baseboard and door casings to be squared like this and a little wider than standard.  I think our ideal casing will be squared and have a little raised ouside edge.

I like this newel.  I don’t know if we will paint or stain our newel.  Our balausters will be square white and painted like these.

Lighting

So, the question of lighting is on the horizon.  The main areas where we need to choose something are:

1.  Outdoor lights for either side of the front door.

this is the door that we copied. ours doesn't have a storm door.

2.  Entryway light, dining room light (there are 4 recessed lights in the corners and a squared recessed ceiling), light/ceiling fan in my parents living room.  You will be able to see these fixtures all at once since they will be in a line across the front of the house, so they need to go together.

Dining room from 87. Ours will have squared recessed ceiling and perhaps higher wainscoting.

3.  Two pendant lights for over the bar

There will be about 5 of these under the bar supporting the granite.  I don’t want anything ornate, but want it to be a sturdy.
